Title: Stylistic Interpretation and Performance Practice of Philippine Choral Music
Abstract: This session offers historical information on Philippine choral traditions and performance practice. Attendees will be provided an annotated choral works list, both published and unpublished, on selected Philippine choral literature. This list aims to help the discriminating conductor choose from a wide array of choral music for concert programming.

Biography: Eliezer Yanson Jr. is an associate professor of music at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina where he conducts the Concert Choir and Lyric Choir and teaches undergraduate and graduate music classes. An active adjudicator and clinician, Eliezer has conducted choirs and clinics in his native Philippines, Thailand, Bulgaria, and the U.S. and is the 2015 3rd Prize Winner of The American Prize in Conducting: College/University Chorus Division. Additionally, Eliezer has presented at IFCM, ACDA, NCCO, and NAfME events, including the 10th World Symposium on Choral Music held in Seoul, South Korea. He earned a doctor of musical arts degree in choral conducting from the University of South Carolina, a master of music degree in church music and a bachelor of music in piano performance from Bob Jones University. While passionate about conducting and teaching, Eliezer’s greatest role is being husband to Martha and father to Isabella and Andre.
