Title: Remembering/Resounding Joy in Song
Abstract: The Health Arts Society of British Columbia has initiated a unique choir project, based on the US 'Giving Voice Initiative'. The Helena Choir is a mixed SATB choir therapeutically designed for those adult experiencing early stage dementia. Caregivers and volunteer singers from the community are included in this joyful music-making!

Biography: Kathryn Nicholson MMT RCC
Kathryn is an accomplished singer and choral director. She has a Master's Degree in Music Therapy and has worked for many years as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in hospice care. Kathryn has sung with many different choral groups including the Canadian Opera Chorus, Ontario Place Singers, Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and Vancouver's Pandora's Vox and EnChor. She has produced and performed in concerts and music theatre productions in both Ontario and Vancouver. She is currently the Artistic Director of Vancouver's Sound Eclectic, a small jazz vocal ensemble and of the Helena Choir, a project of the Health Arts Society of BC.
